About Christyne
Hello, I’m Christyne
Founder of Hawkshead Laser Craft, mountain wanderer, animal lover and maker of personalised gifts inspired by the Lake District.
From the flatlands to the fells
In 1998 I swapped the flatlands of Lincolnshire for the fells, lakes and ever-changing skies of Cumbria. The Lakes have been my playground ever since: I have walked, run, swum, kayaked and cycled my way across this stunning landscape.
A life of service
My career has always been rooted in service. I served as a police response officer with Cumbria Police and volunteered as a community first responder.
My greatest passion has always been dogs. I spent nearly 30 years in Mountain Rescue as a search-dog handler, training and working with search and rescue dogs. I trained three search dogs of my own: two Border Collies and a Labrador. I have now retired from handling, but I remain actively involved as a trainer and assessor with the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs Association, helping the next generation of dog teams.
Finding laser craft
After the police, I took a leap of faith and started my own dog grooming business. When arthritis meant another change of direction, I discovered laser engraving and have not looked back.
Hawkshead Laser Craft was born from a wish to blend creativity with meaning. I design and make bespoke engraved gifts, from slate coasters and placemats to house signs and keepsakes, in my workshop at the end of the garden in Hawkshead.
Life at home
I work from home alongside my rescued street dog Silvie, Charlie the tortoise, Peanut the cat, eight cheeky chickens and a few fish for good measure. Life is never dull and always full of heart.
Made with care
Every piece is designed and made with care, attention to detail and a genuine love of craftsmanship. I use recycled and compostable packaging wherever possible.
Whether you are celebrating a birthday, a new home or a wedding, or simply want to say thank you, I would love to help you create something truly special. If you are passionate about something, whether a place, a pet or a memory, let’s turn it into a keepsake that lasts.
